THE
PARENTS
Mr. SEUNG SAY, who is the household
leader, is Oeur Sawin’s father, is kind, open-minded, stable, helpful,
indifferent, generous, patient, specialized in constructing houses and
tolerated. He has compassion for his children even though his children
misunderstand of some error issues but he usually loves his children. He is more
than 50 years old with light dark skin, slim enough and curved hair. He used to
live in the Khmer Regime that caused him to hurt. He is the Great Grandfather
Seung Oeur’s second son after uncle Seung Oeurn who lives in Preak Phnauv now.
Mr. Say is a well-known specialized house builder in the local areas especially
Chhor Tea Phluos, Sveng Pea, Krang Svay, Chhoeung Chhnouk, Chhea Lea, Thboung
Khmom, Prasath, Popeth, Ork Teang and Taing Kork villages. Now he lives with
his wife in Taing Kork due to his children live far away from him in the cities
and Kandal province.
His wife is OUCH
SAM OEURN, who is the housewife and Oeur Sawin’s mother, is kind, open-minded,
stable, helpful, generous, patient, specialized in sewing clothes and
tolerated. She has skills in sewing and cooking. She also used to live in the
Khmer Rouge regime that was a period giving hurting situations. By that time
she was the sewer for Sahakor even if she had food enough but no freedom and
was forced to work over time. She was working with Aunt Yun who lives in
Thboung Phnom at the present time. She is light dark skin, fat enough with
curly hair. She is more than 50 years as well. She is so generous to her
children. She always keeps her children in touch even if they live far from her
but she calls to ask about the health, social communication and jobs. She lives
with her husband, Mr. Say, in Taing Kork. Sometimes she goes to the city to
visit her children because she concerns them and afraid of any bad things
happen to her children.
Nowadays, Mr. Say and
Mrs. Sam Oeurn are Sawin’s greatest thankful parents as seen the photos
standing captured with the text below. They are farmers planting rice for twice
per year. When the agricultural farming raining season finished by December
Father Seung Say takes his leisure time to make contracts to construct
houses in the local areas. He is the main chief of the house building group
even if his all children have already lived far away but he finds just enough
benefits to support family. The father contacts various villagers to negotiate project
contracts to construct houses. In the period of time in raining season comes
again, the father Seung Say and Mother Ouch Sam Oeurn always start doing the rice
transplantation work with each other in the rice field in order to raise their
family in the countryside.
Mother Sam Oeun is
the housewife whose skills at designing clothing models, knitting and sewing,
spends most of her time to get extra benefit for her family and distribute to
her children. She has been very busy in work but seriously taking care of her
children's future attendances by urging them to pay more attention to do the
business and work. Particularly, she’s tried to find the ways to push children
to meet good future chances because they don't have much money. So only their
endeavors themselves could bring them the bright future. Those children are
diligent and patient against all kinds of obstacles in the society to save
their studies and work. Father Say and Mother Sam Oeurn have got
five children: four sons and one daughter excluded one daughter who passed away
during the Civil War regime in 1978 due to the serious acute fever happened
early morning – neither medicines nor doctor to be met for curing her daughter.
At the present time,
their children live in the far locations from them such oldest son Oeur Song in
Rokakong (Kandal) except the older son Oeur Seap lives in the end of the Taing
Kork village (in the same village) closed to their house, the son Oeur Sawin lives
in Phnom Penh with his wife. The younger son Oeur Kim Ann lives with his youngest
sister Oeur Rathonny and younger brother-in-law, Reth. Most of them work in
Phnom Penh except Oeur Song lives and does the business and works for a Public
School in Rokakong, Kandal province.
Both Parents usually keep
their children in touch and give the calls sometimes. Their children miss them but
they are busy in doing the business and jobs. They come to visit as the
available time especially the holidays or any Khmer traditional ceremonies. They
come to visit father Say and mother Sam Oeurn with some incentives. They are the
parents who could have abilities to raise all children and very thankful
persons for children, the very deep thankfulness, nothing could be compared.
Even though they do
the farming but they actually want their children to live in the better
situations than them. They do the farms but they don’t want their children to
do the farms. That is why they have worked hard to support and raise their
children. After they finish work in the rice field, they go to pagoda for
offering food to monks and take meditations in chanting Buddhist words especially
during Pchum Ben days, Khmer Happy New Years and other national ceremonies.
They are the people who used to live under the Khmer Rouge regime from 1975 to
1979 which was the bad period of their life time. They ran across the big and
dangerous problems. Mr. Say and Mrs Sam Oeurn introduce children to avoid the
bad past experiences and never let be in the future lives.
THE CHILDREN
The first child: the oldest brother in the household
is Oeur Song who has black hair, soybean-color skin, adequately slim
body shape, humble and diligent characteristics and perseverance. He is the
public teacher of physics teaching at Serey Mong Koul High School beside Wat
Damrei Sar pagoda in Prey Chrov village, Rokakong Pir commune, Moukamppoul
district, Kandal province. He got married a local businesswoman living in Chong
Prek village named Mrs. Dy Samen with 3 children and one mother named
Yeay Krain. The first is Oeur Sok Ngim who is the oldest daughter
studying at the Health University in Phnom Penh. The second is Oeur Serey
Vatanna who is the daughter studying at the Serey Mongkoul High School.
And the last is Oeur
Tong Heng who is the youngest son studying at the Serey Mongkoul High
School, too. Mr. Song and Mrs. Samen are oldest brother and sister-in-law who
are very busy in their business because they open two grocery stores, one is in
the Chong Preak market located at the northwest of Chak Khararam pagoda coner
in the NR.6A and another is at their home sale store closed to the Chong Prek
river. These two grocery stores are running in wholesale and retail. Brother
Song has to prepare to control his outlets successfully with his wife. His wife
and he get up early mornings around 5.00am to 6.00am to prepare opening stores to
sell and close late evening around 6.00pm to 7.00pm. The consumers always come
from the local areas and far areas especially the villagers in Chong Preak, Por
Lom, Kampong Prasath, Preak Dambang, Prey Chrov and so on.
Mr. Oeur Song is
always kind to anybody especially his wife, parents, daughters, son, brothers
and sisters in giving the ideas of the experiences to raise lives. After coming
back from teaching at Serey Mong Koul high school every day, he helps sell his
wife both outlets being assisted by his mother-in-law Aunt Grain in the leisure
time from her cottage in the pagoda to take part in controlling his home
groceries during the great grandchildren go to school.
For another business
skill, brother Song does the domestic businesses related to the food and
drink orders for the Khmer ceremonies and parties due to the high requirements
requested by the local villagers cause him to take more advantages of extra
businesses. They are so easy in their daily business because they have to spend
more attention to communicate with the consumers. However, Brother Song with
his wife are satisfied their experiences of life skills of doing the domestic
businesses in the developing country. Every year even if they are busy but they
take sometimes to go out for a walk. They love their children very much, for
example, they bought their oldest daughter Oeur Sok Ngim the precious
Laptop Dell and a motorbike for coordinating in her university study in health.
The second child: Oeur
Seap
who got married a wife from Srok Leou in Kampong Cham now has no a child yet.
He has got his own house and lives in the end of Taing Kork village closed to
Ork Teang village. He has main occupations including transplanting rice, doing
extra businesses, raising pigs, chickens and ducks. He raises fish in the pond
behind his house where he contacts and works cooperatively with his neighbors.
He is kind, perseverant, humble, industrious, diligent, reliable, wide-minded
with dark soybean colour-skin, black hair and the adequate fate body shape,
short enough and flexible.
In his leisure time
after he finishes his work at the rice field, he joins to build houses with his
father Seung Say to get some benefit for family. He creates runs the motor taxi
to transport passengers and goods from the markets to the villages and from the
villages to the markets. He always gets up early morning to prepare things to
leave home for daily work. Sometimes he goes to help plant rice for his parents
because his parents have no children living near them. Brother Seap feels so
more responsible in the household leading because he needs to enrich and
improve the family standard. He still feels enjoyable what he does. His wife
called Kim Savoeun now works and lives in Malaysia with money payment to him.
In the middle year
2010, Sister-in-Law Kim Savoeun has gone for work in Malaysia on the purpose of
adding more benefits to the family. Sister Savoeun is the ex-woman from Srok
Leur village in Kampong Cham province has faced a lot of things in her life. He
is closer than his other siblings and he who always keeps in touch his parents has
a lot of friends in the village. They also do the farming like him. He has some
friends working for the government departments in PP and other work for the
private sectors.
Oeur Seap had
experienced in the Khmer Rouge regime from 1975 to 1979 as the period of time
that gave him a lot hurt problems because he was forced to work overtime but
had less food. He cooperated with his friends in the village to find out more
extra food around the village such fish, rice, fruit and food. He got up too
early morning to check some potatoes and rice in the nearest location. Khmer
Rouge soldiers always controlled the food warehouse all the time to protect
people.
Then the regime was
vanished in 1979. Seap started going to school in primary school and secondary
school. He dropped out his class in grade 9 (Bacc I) because he was busy in the
rice field work. That was the time that the Civil War still remained and left
the village with occasional conflicts between the government and Khmer Rouge
soldiers. It was also another impact that caused him to stop his class. Sometimes
in the present time, he just feels regretful that he could not continue his
education to pass Bacc II or university. He permanently lives in Taing Kork
village, Taing Kraing commune, Batheay district, Kampong Cham province.
The third child: the third son in the

always takes his spare times after the study and work to go visiting his

to face many difficult obstacles during his studies and job; however, he has
learnt a lot from those assignments because he becomes one who is very
different from his childhood named Kosal. He has got a lot of friends who study
and work with him in Phnom Penh and at hometown. He always enjoys his friends’
communications in the society. He is one of the farmers’ sons who has not got
much money to support his studies and life. He is sometimes recommended by his
older brothers to be self-strong confident in his life either his studies or
job performances because the son must be improved and developed to be the good
leader. Nevertheless, Kim Ann takes his spare time to research more things
related to his major of IT in order to speed up the IT study process at the

used to study at Taing Kork primary school and Chhoeung Chhnouk High School

her cousins in the city. However, she dropped out of the high school because
she wanted to improve her life in jobs. She is one of the loving daughter in
the family that always cares of the parents and her life. At the present time,
she works as the clothing sewer in Sangkat Chak Angre krom in Khan Mean Chey,
